Where is the nearest food shop? The nearest small convenience store is a Co Op in Hawkshead, approximately 6.5 miles. There is a Booths, Aldi and Marks & Spencers Food supermarkets in Ulverston, approximately 10 miles. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons all deliver to Syke Barn (subject to available delivery slots).
Where is the nearest pub? The nearest pub is the Manor House in Oxen Park, about 2.5 miles by road (or can be reached by walking mostly road free on public footpaths). The pub serves food, booking may be required.
What time is check in/check out? Check in is between 4.00pm and 8.00pm on day of arrival. If you have provided a mobile ‘phone number we will text you if Syke Barn becomes available earlier on your arrival day. Syke Barn must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. Please adhere strictly to these times in order that the house is ready for you and also for those who come after you.
Do you supply logs for the wood burning fire? We provide one complimentary basket of kiln dried seasoned logs of correct size, kindling and a firelighters, usually enough for one or two nights. Further baskets can be purchased from the owners (subject to availability), or of course you may bring your own. We recommend kiln dried seasoned logs, due to the capacity of the fire logs of a smaller size are best suited.
Does Syke Barn have a fridge? There is a spacious fridge in the kitchen
Does Syke Barn have a freezer? There is not a freezer in Syke Barn.
Is there a washing machine? Syke Barn does have a small capacity automatic washing machine, a heated clothes horse for indoor drying and a rotary clothes line outside.
Can I bring bicycles? Yes, there is a lockable bike store provided, under no circumstances can bicycles be brought into Syke Barn.
