Things you should know

Most of the following can be found elsewhere on this website, but we thought we would place information you may find useful on one page for your convenience.

Syke Barn has a private water supply which is filtered and tested as safe to drink. Some guests may prefer to bring and drink bottled water, we supply a complimentary 2 litre bottle for you on arrival.

Access to Syke Barn from the road along the front of the building is at the rear of the property up a grassy slope to the right hand side. Alternatively from the dedicated car park there is a grass path behind the old stable leading to the rear of the building and entrance.

Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Syke Barn.

Due to the layout and features upstairs Syke Barn is not suited to infants.

Bicycles brought by guests must not be stored inside Syke Barn under any circumstances, we have provided a lockable bike store.

There is dedicated parking for one vehicle, parking for a second vehicle may be accommodated by prior arrangement.

Due to the rural and natural location, only EE and BT mobile coverage are available. Complimentary rural broadband (suitable for TV catch up, Netflix etc.) is available in the property.

We provide one complimentary basket of kiln dried seasoned logs of correct size, kindling and firelighters, usually enough for one or two nights. Further baskets can be purchased from the owners (subject to availability), or of course you may bring your own. We recommend kiln dried seasoned logs, due to the capacity of the fire logs of a smaller size are best suited.

Whilst there is a fridge in the kitchen there is not a freezer in Syke Barn.

A welcome pack is provided with products, including a selection of jams, as well as a starter supply of loo roll, soap, shampoo, tea and coffee and dishwasher tablets.

There are no shops in Rusland, the closest convenience store is in Hawkshead (approx 6 miles) and supermarkets in Ulverston (approx 10 miles), however, all major supermarkets deliver to Syke Barn.
